Please arrive 20–30 minutes early to collect and fit your skates. The time printed on your ticket is when your skating session begins.

Each session includes 45 minutes of on-ice time.

Our soft-launch evening is Thursday 3 December 2026, with public skating sessions at 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm. The official season opens on Friday 4 December. The final skating sessions are on Sunday 3 January 2027, and the rink is closed from Monday 4 January onwards. Doors usually open at 9.30am for the first 10am session and the site closes at 10pm, although times may vary on certain dates.

Jubilee Square, St Nicolas Place, Leicester LE1 4LD—in front of the Big Wheel. This is the Leicester event, not Jubilee Square in London.

Highcross Leicester is our preferred parking partner. Other city-centre car parks are available; check current opening times and charges before travelling.

The rink is undercover and protected from the elements, so you can skate in the dry. During high winds we may need to close the rink temporarily for safety because of the limitations of the marquee structure.

You may join the remaining part of your booked session, but no refund, exchange or extra skating time will be provided.

Yes. A fee of £4.00 for skate rental is included in every skating ticket.

Only if a Reschedule Package was purchased with the original booking. Without this package, bookings cannot be moved to another date or session.

No. All ticket sales are final.

Advance online booking is recommended. Online tickets cost £1 less than tickets purchased on site, and walk-up availability cannot be guaranteed.

A Family ticket covers either two adults and two children, or one adult and three children.

Groups of 12 or more receive 5% off skating tickets. The discount excludes booking and rescheduling fees.

Yes. Both cash and card payments are accepted.

If we cancel a session for safety or technical reasons, customers will be offered another session or a refund. Customers may be notified by email, telephone, Facebook, or a combination of these channels. If the rink remains open and a customer chooses not to attend, no refund or exchange will be provided.

Standard skating tickets may be transferred to another person. Season Passes are strictly personal and non-transferable.

Yes. Ice Skate Leicester features a covered rink made from real ice in the heart of Leicester. The skating surface is created using genuine frozen water—not synthetic ice.

Yes. Skaters must be at least three years old.

Yes. All skaters under 14 must be accompanied on the ice by an adult aged 18 or over. One adult may accompany up to six children. Skaters aged 14–17 may attend and skate without an adult remaining on site.

Yes. Real ice is naturally slippery. Bare shoes are not permitted on the ice; ice skates or suitable ice grips must be worn at all times.

No. Food and drinks are not permitted on the ice.

You may skate entirely at your own risk, but Ice Skate Leicester advises against it. The decision remains with the individual.

Yes. Trained first aiders are available on site.

No. We do not provide skating lessons or instructors. Complete beginners are welcome, and we recommend a quieter Relaxed/SEND or off-peak session for those wanting more space and confidence.

Standard sessions include music and changing or flashing lighting effects. Relaxed/SEND sessions use static lighting with no or low sound.

Ice skating is a sporting activity with inherent risks, including slips, trips, falls and collisions. By skating or entering the ice, participants and spectators acknowledge these risks and take responsibility for their own safety. Please report any accident, however minor, to a member of rink staff. Read the full Accidents Do Happen guidance before visiting.

Hire skates range from junior J8 to adult size 14, subject to availability.

Yes. Standard personal figure skates and hockey skates are welcome. Speed skates are not permitted.

Wear warm, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Layers, long trousers, gloves and thick socks are recommended. Avoid loose clothing or trailing scarves that could become caught. Helmets are not compulsory but are recommended, particularly for younger or less confident skaters.

No. Helmets are recommended, and gloves are recommended for additional comfort.

Yes. Penguin and seal skate aids cost £5 each per session, payable by card, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Yes. If the first pair does not fit comfortably, ask the team for another size or pair.

Yes. Skate sharpening is available; prices and eligibility details are to be announced.

No. We do not provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to customers. Visitors should bring any PPE that is suitable for their individual needs.

Wednesdays from 3pm–3.45pm and Sundays from 11am–11.45am.

The site is generally level and accessible. There is a small step at the rink entrance and exit, and assistance is available for wheelchair users.

Absolutely. Manual and motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters may join any public session. Wheels must be clean, and the user must be accompanied by a companion wearing skates or ice grips. The wheelchair or mobility-scooter user must purchase the appropriate adult or child ticket; one companion may join free of charge. The companion place does not need to be booked and no proof of eligibility is required. Skates or ice grips are supplied free to the companion. Visitors must bring their own wheelchair or mobility scooter.

Yes. The charge is £2 per item for the duration of your skating session. Loose items are not permitted on the ice and must be left with a non-skater or placed in the cloakroom. All items are stored entirely at the owner’s risk.

Yes. Toilets are available, including an accessible toilet.

Yes. Spectators may enter and watch free of charge; no spectator ticket is required. Undercover seating is available.

Personal, non-commercial photography is permitted around the event, but not while you are on the ice. Commercial photography must be arranged with us in advance.

No glass is permitted.

No. Visitors are not permitted to bring alcohol onto the event site.

You may bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks onto the event site. Alcohol may not be brought onto the site, and no food or drinks may be taken onto the ice.

Assistance dogs are welcome on the event site but are not permitted on the ice. Other dogs and pets are not permitted.

Pushchairs and buggies are permitted around the event site but are not allowed on the ice. Baby-changing facilities are not available on site, but can be found in neighbouring establishments.

No. Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the marquee.

Inform the on-site management team, who will record the details in the lost-property logbook. Found property is kept for one month. Email hello@iceskateleicester.com; if a reported item is found, we will contact its owner.

Season Passes cost £130 per person and are available only to people aged 16 or over.

No. Present your pass ticket and valid photo ID when you arrive. A clear copy or photograph of the ID is acceptable, provided the name and photograph match the passholder. Season Passes are non-transferable, and entry will be refused without matching photo ID. Admission is first come, first served and subject to capacity. Skate hire is included, or you may bring your own standard skates. There are currently no excluded sessions, but blackout sessions may apply. Passholders must leave the ice between sessions for resurfacing.
