Important: skating involves risk

Ice is naturally slippery. Falls, slips, trips, collisions and contact with objects can occur, and injuries may be serious. By choosing to skate or enter the rink area, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of ice skating.

Volenti non fit injuria means that a person who knowingly and voluntarily accepts an inherent risk cannot generally complain of harm arising from that accepted risk. Nothing on this page excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability arising from negligence.

Before and during your skate

• Follow all instructions from Ice Marshals and the management team.
• Report accidents or hazards to a member of staff immediately.
• Put skates on in the skate-changing area and make sure they fit and are fastened correctly.
• Wear suitable clothing and skate within your own ability.
• Skate anti-clockwise unless staff tell you otherwise.
• Keep your speed under control, look where you are going and avoid collisions.
• Leave the ice during resurfacing, at the end of your session, or whenever instructed.
• Keep noise at a reasonable level and treat staff and other visitors with respect.

Not permitted on the ice

• Smoking or vaping on or around the rink or inside the marquee.
• Entering the ice without skates.
• Bags, loose items, mobile phones, cameras or personal music devices.
• Food, drink or chewing gum.
• Playing tag or other games.
• Sitting on, climbing or placing feet on the barrier or handrail.
• Skating against the flow, across the middle, backwards or at excessive speed.
• Skating in chains. Holding hands in pairs is permitted where safe.
• Spins, jumps, acrobatic tricks, or spraying, chipping or throwing ice or snow.
• Carrying children or infants while on the ice.
• Skating while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any impairing substance.

Behaviour and right to refuse entry

Dangerous, abusive, aggressive, antisocial or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. We may refuse entry or remove anyone who breaches this Code of Conduct, without a refund.

By entering the rink area, skaters and spectators confirm that they have read, understood and agree to follow this Code of Conduct. If you do not agree, please do not enter the ice rink.
